Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs has revealed he cried in his car outside Manchester Airport after the final-day clash with Southampton, fearing his remarkable Reds story had come to an end reports Manchester Evening News (MEN).

At the time Louis van Gaal had not been confirmed as manager and Giggs’ future was unclear. He was subsequently appointed the Dutchman’s number two but said: “Yeah, we got off the plane at Manchester Airport. “I was saying goodbye to the players, thanking them. Potentially saying goodbye to a lot of players for the last time, a bit of staff, and I’m not an emotional… well, I didn’t think I was. I’m not a really emotional person but my car was parked right outside and I thought: ‘I need to get in my car here’. I could feel myself getting emotional. So I get in my car and I just went, started crying, started getting really emotional and I think it was just a mixture of what I’ve just said, saying goodbye to people for maybe the last time, and the pressure that I put myself under.”

Nigeria central bank Governor Godwin Emefiele pledged to maintain stability in the currency and signaled the bank may begin cutting interest rates reports Bloomberg.

“Under my leadership the bank will continue to focus on maintaining exchange rate stability and preserve the value of the domestic currency,” Emefiele said today in the capital, Abuja, at his first press conference since taking office June 3.

“On monetary policy, we shall pursue a gradual reduction in interest rates,” he said.

The central bank’s targets a trading range for the currency of 155 per dollar, plus or minus 3 percentage points, at its twice-weekly currency auctions. The naira weakened 0.3 to 162.90 per dollar by 11:20 a.m. in the commercial capital, Lagos, taking its losses this year to 1.3 percent.

The central bank has kept its key lending rate unchanged at a record high of 12 percent since November 2011. The cash reserve requirement on private sector funds was raised by 3 percentage points to 15 percent in March, after the limit on public sector funds was raised to 75 percent from 50 percent.

Emefiele said in March that a devaluation of the naira is “not an option” and would be “devastating” for Africa’s biggest economy and largest oil producer.

piqueCesc Fabregas nears Chelsea transfer as Gerard Pique reveals £26.8m deal is done reports UK Metro.

This is a lesson for all. Never whisper around live microphones. Pique was caught whispering details of his team mate’s transfer move. It is widely reported that Chelsea are leading the chase for Fabregas’ signature, especially after Lampard’s departure.

Cesc Fabregas, 27,  has been put up for sale by the Catalan giants, and it seems a deal has already been concluded after Pique was caught whispering details about his team-mate’s impending transfer to Spain coach Vincente Del Bosque.

While sitting together at a promotional event, a private conversation between Pique and Del Bosque was picked up by active TV microphones on the table.

The Spanish boss said: ‘About Cesc [Fabregas]…’

To which Pique replied: ‘He already told me it’s done. He is leaving for 33million euros.

Del Bosque joked: ‘The [Barcelona] president isn’t going to be happy.

‘You’re going to drive him mad, poor guy. You’re going to upset him.’

Although a destination was not mentioned.

Pharrell-native-america-cover2…..and that Pharrell’s Cover for Elle’s UK magazine. I bet he is not one ‘HAPPY’ fella today. Let me put it this way, it is disrespectful if the Native Americans object to this ridicule.  Here is a brief history courtesy of Daily Mail.;

A HISTORY OF THE FEATHER HEADDRESS

Feathered headdresses, or war bonnets were historically worn by Native American chiefs and warriors who received feathers for heroic deeds.

Each feather signifies an individual deed, however its primary role, according to Wikipedia, is to protect the wearer.

Eagle feathers were typically favored by Native Americans, and the most highly-honored warriors were required to hunt their own birds.

While the days of battle are long gone for the Native Americans, the feather headdress is still considered a sacred item and continues to be used for some ceremonies.

BokoHaramTERRORISM: On a sad not, according to reports in ThisDay, No fewer than 300 villagers were reportedly killed in three communitiesaroundGwoza local government areaofBorno State on Monday as gunmen suspected tobeBokoHaram butfullykitted in military fatigue uniform attacked them, eyewitnesses and security operatives said.A few villagers inDanjara,Agapalwa andAntagara who managed to escape the attack are currently taking refuge in the rockyGwoza hills, while others mostly women and children who were spared by the attackers have found their way into Cameroonian territory.A state lawmaker representing the region, Peter Biye, told the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) that “they (Boko Haram) opened fire on villagers and burned houses and churches to the ground”. Dozens of people were killed in each attack, he said, but he could not give precise figures.

Andrew Tada, an indigene of Attagara who lives in Maiduguri, the state capital, told the BBC that he lost two cousins in the attack, noting that residents had told him they were preparing to bury 45 people from that village alone.

“It is very sad and the villages are deserted now; we are just asking government to give us security to go there tomorrow (today) to evacuate the corpses for burial,” Tada said.

Impeccable sources who saw it all told LEADERSHIP that the gunmen that attacked the villages pretended to be soldiers who had come to protect them from further attacks, but when the fake soldiers managed to gather all the villagers at the centre of the village in Antagara, they opened fire on them, killing hundreds and injuring several others.

“They came in military Hilux vans, and we all thought they were the soldiers that we earlier reported to that the insurgents might attack us; when they came in over 10 Hilux vehicles we all felt relieved that, at last, the military had arrived. So we went to them and they told us that ‘we are soldiers and we are here to protect you all’. They then urged all of us to converge at a particular spot at the centre of the village; we all complied. But when they saw that a sizeable number of us had converged, they began to shout ‘Allahu-Akbar, Allahu-Akbar’ on top of their voices, then they began to fire at the people.

Shola Ameobi

Shola Ameobi

Good morning, and its exactly 7 days to the world cup. I don’t know about you, but there is something exciting about this tournament that goes on holidays every 4 years. I believe we are in for a shocking world cup when there will be a re-emergence of the spirit of the game and a discovery of an array of talents.

SPORTS: Let’s start with Nigeria’s Stephen Keshi eulogising Shola Amoebi, the shocking inclusion to the Nigerian team. This is what he had to say; ‘Shola Ameobi Is An Inspiration’. Why? Keshi believes Shola’s experience in the Premier League will be a valuable asset when approaching this World Cup and be an inspiration to the young players in his squad according to reports in TheMag.

“Shola is the consummate professional and he is a leader on and off the pitch, his experience is invaluable to the team.

“I’ve got a young team and we need somebody like him to guide and inspire as he’s played at the highest level for so long.”

There appears to be an increasing possibility of Ameobi starting when Nigeria kick off their Brazil campaign against Iran on Monday 16 June.

Shola has also been talking about arriving on sunny Tyneside as a kid;

“For a few years we struggled to pull the strings together and fit in.

“It took a while to be accepted, we looked different and we lived differently, I still remember the shock of the cold.”
