Beyoncé Knowles and Kelly Rowland jumped at the chance to sing on Michelle Williams’ latest single “Say Yes,” after hearing an early version of the track, the singer told The Hollywood Reporter.

“They received an advance copy of the album and called, saying, ‘We love “When Jesus Says Yes”… there has to be a Destiny’s Child mix of the song,'” Williams said of the origins of the unofficial Destiny’s Child reunion. “Kelly did it and Beyoncé got right in the studio and did her part. I kept it a secret because I didn’t want anyone to know until it was time.”

But despite Williams’ best efforts, news quickly got out: Not only did an incomplete version of “Say Yes” leak, but Williams, Rowland and Beyoncé were spotted filming the video for the song towards the end of last month. “It was so much fun,” Williams said of the shoot. “It was like we were little kids again. I have their back and they have mine. They have showed themselves to be loyal to me time after time. They have proven they are my sisters time and time again.”

Produced by Harmony Samuels (Ariana Grande, Maroon 5), “Say Yes” is an EDM-inspired reimagining of a Nigerian gospel song, “When Jesus Says Yes,” and will appear on Williams’ upcoming solo effort, Journey To Freedom, which should see release in September. She’ll be able to put the finishing touches on the album this summer as well, after the sudden cancellation of the Jesus Christ Superstar arena tour, in which she was set to play Mary Magdalene.

Williams added that she hopes the record will attract some of the Destiny’s Child fans who didn’t follow her into the gospel world after the trio split in 2005, touting the record’s positive message and diverse sound. “This is an urban inspiration record so sonically it’s very urban with pop infusion in there,” Williams said. “I made sure that every genre of music I have ever done is represented on there.”
