1.Born into the ruling Sullubawa clan on July 31, 1961.

2. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (SLS) started his education at St. Anne’s Catholic Primary School, Kakuri, Kaduna, where he obtained his first school leaving certificate in 1973.

3. His father, Alhaji Aminu Sanusi, was a permanent secretary in the ministry of foreign affairs in the 1960s.

4. SLS is the grandson of former emir of Kano and Islamic scholar,  Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, who was deposed and banished in 1963.

5. SLS, an economist by profession attended the prestigious King’s College, Lagos in 1967.

6. SLS attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1981 and got B.Sc. in Economics.

7. SLS completed a Master’s in Economics at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria In 1983-84 specialising on monetary policy.

8. SLS became a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1983.

9. SLS completed his National Youth Service (NYS) in Gongola State (now Adamawa and Taraba).

8. SLS’s first private occupation was with ICON Limited (Merchant Bankers) where he was for seven years, working in corporate finance, treasury services, credit and marketing, attaining the position of Area Manager, North in1991.

9. In 1997, SLS got a first-class degree in Sharia and Islamic Studies (with an elective in Arabic) at the International University of Africa, Khartoum, Sudan.

10. On his return from Sudan, SLS joined United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc as a Principal Manager (Credit Risk Management) and by March 2005 he became a General Manager, with expertise in Risk Management.

11. In 2005 SLS became Executive Director (risk & management control) First Bank of Nigeria Plc.

12. In 2008 SLS was appointed CEO First Bank of Nigeria Plc .

13. After only six months former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua appointed SLS as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

14. In February 2014 President Goodluck Jonathan suspended SLS over a letter he wrote alleging $49.8 billion oil revenue was yet to be accounted for by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). His CBN tenure came to an abrupt end.

15. On Sunday 8th June, 2014. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (SLS) was named the new Emir of Kano.

16. Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi  speaks four languages fluently ─ Hausa, English, Arabic and French.

18. SLS is also an activist, a campaigner for good causes.
