The Ogun State Government has declared Thursday, June 12, 2014 a public holiday.
According to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government and reported in Punch, Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa said the holiday is in honour of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election.
It is also to commemorate a day which some states have declared Democracy Day.
The state appealed to residents to spend the day in sober reflection and continue to pray for the state and Nigeria as a whole.
