To mournful horns and dramatic strings, the queen of hip-hop soul traces through how she attempts (but ultimately fails) to forget how a man walked out on her. Pharrell pops in to belt out some comforting words, only to have Blige’s hook shoot through as if to shut him down. All the while, they sound as if inspired by Wonder’s early ’70s catalog, with their pleading voices set to sharp melodies. That was how Idolator captured this duet.
“See That Boy Again” appears in the Think Like a Man Too soundtrack (out June 17) – what looks to be a serious treat for R&B fans. Instead of featuring 14 artists in 14 songs, Blige has actually cut 14 entirely new songs, essentially making for a brand-new Mary J. Blige album. Hear Mary J. Blige and Pharrell duet on “See That Boy Again” below, then get more details on the Think Like a Man Too soundtrack at Yahoo!.
