Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in next week’s election in Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose, on Friday, distributed rice to no fewer than 6,000 students of the Ekiti State University (EKSU).

Addressing the students,  the governorship candidate told  them the gesture was to help in their upkeep as they have  decided to stay back in school after the authorities announced a closure of the institution ahead of the election.

The management of  EKSU had on Monday, June 9, closed down the university and asked the students to  go home in preparation towards the coming  governorship election.

The students  besieged Spotless Hotel located in GRA, Onigari in the state capital as early as 6:00a.m following  a radio  announcement by the Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation that the PDP candidate will be supporting the students with a bag of rice each and N2,000 reports Nigeria Tribune..

Fayose also assured  them of slashing  their school fees from N100, 000 to  an affordable rate and put a stop to the era of no fees, no examinations  if elected governor.

“With your support, I know that this election is already won. But I want to plead with you not to collect money from our enemy on election day. I’m   ready to support you and ensure that you live a good life on campus,”he said..

To expand the scope of  his  gesture, Fayose declared that about 10,000 bags of rice will be distributed to market women across the state, while 6,000 bags  have been allotted to 16 council areas. 15,000 bags are also  to be distributed to other selected groups.
