Nigerian Army chief Lieutenant General Kenneth Minimah has announced that new uniforms will be issued to soldiers to make them look smarter and differentiate them from impostors according to IHS Jane’s Defence Weekly.
“The Nigerian Army has decided to change the camouflage uniform of the service,” the Daily Trust newspaper quoted him as saying on 30 July. “[The uniforms] are currently being made at the Nigerian Army Tailoring Department at Yaba, Lagos State,” he said while addressing soldiers of 149 Battalion in Ojo.
There have been numerous reports of Boko Haram militants wearing military uniforms, thereby creating confusion and undermining trust in the military in areas where the group operates.
