This harrowing video shows the moment a terrified group of immigrants were released from a shipping container at Tilbury Docks. Women can be heard screaming and wailing as a young child looks on. A man stands with hands on his head while police attempt to help the group, believed to be Afghan Sikhs.

One man died and another 34 were found inside the container which arrived from Zeebrugge yesterday morning. The footage, obtained by ITV News, shows police officers and border staff helping the distressed group. A manhunt is now underway for the driver of the lorry that carried the shipping container.

It arrived at the Port of Tilbury from Zeebrugge yesterday morning. Investigators are now looking at CCTV footage in a bid to find the driver and company of the truck that brought the immigrants to the UK.

Police today said that they believe the people in the boats were Afghan Sikhs and victims of people trafficking. It is believed that they got into the shipping container before arriving at Zeebrugge and heading onto Britain.

Today Peter De Waele, spokesman for the Federal Police in Belgium, said it appeared to be “impossible” for the 35 men, women and children to be loaded into the unit in the time it was at Zeebrugge, a port in the north of the country.

He said investigators have been combing CCTV and are “very hopeful” that they can track down the driver and company of the vehicle that deposited the container. (Source – Youtube)
