DON JAZZY REPLIED: THERE IS A GAME PLAN FOR KOREDE BELLO!!!

don-jazzy-bubblesI posted an article a few minutes ago with the title ‘WHY IS DON JAZZY KILLING KOREDE BELLO’S GIFT WITH ‘Cold Outside’?’ . On twitter, the versatile producer himself sent me a direct message to take me on, firstly on the title of my post and secondly to inform me of the great plans he has for Korede Bello.

While the post was never intended to be personal, and I took pains to explain this to Michael Collins Ajereh, better known as Don Jazzy, I was impressed that he took time to express his concerns, and also how the music industry works in Nigeria. He also pointed out to me that he has BIG PLANS for Korede Bello.

in his personal message to me he also mentioned there are already materials for Korede Bello. All I will add is this: Fans of Don Jazzy should watch out for this emerging talent called Korede Bello. You can also read – ‘Nigerian music is unintelligent, Period!’

HOW DON JAZZY REPLIED AND HAS BIG PLANS FOR KOREDE BELLO...

10 BEST SONGS PRODUCED BY DON JAZZY

Super producer Michael Collins, popularly known by all as Don Jazzy has blessed our ears over the years with an array of beats to songs so impressive you can’t help but move when it comes on. Don Jazzy can boast of a catalog that is almost free of a wack beat/song, he’s gone from strength to strength, be it a club banger or an indigenous themed beat for all types of occasions, he’s delivered consistently.

So we decided to rank the top 10 songs produced by Don Jazzy  and trust me, this wasn’t very easy. We had to chop and tinker repeatedly over which songs should grace the list. We finally arrived at this. Before you read, keep in mind that this list is what we at SYBT believe is his top 10, taking into consideration how much of a hit the song became, the impact it had on the artiste’s career and fan reception as a whole.

10. Lift Off Jayz & Kanye West feat. Beyonce (2011)

We don’t care if he added “pam pam” or he adjusted the drums or said “why don’t we get Beyonce to sing the hook” or “since I am from Africa, let me add some simbas”..ain’t none of that matter. His name is in the credits. The End.

9. Under G – Saucekid (2010)

Sinzu aka Saucekidbaba broke the only-giving-beats-to-Mohits-acts run and got Don Jazzy to produce his last fire single before ‘Carolina’. Now, personally, this jam was more Sauce than Don Jazzy. With all those video game sounds flying all over the place, this still came out a jam.

8. Tongolo – D’banj (2005)

We have to give respect to where it all started from. When Naija stars were still giving us sampled/remakes of State side songs. Don Jazzy hit us with a heavy bass jam accompanied with D’banj’s harmonica. Classic.

7. Winchii Winchii  – Dr Sid feat Wande Coal (2009)

Don Jazzy is probably the most generous producer ever. He blessed this track with different array of synths, ill drum programming, congas, his trademark adlibs…did we mention those synths? with WC on the hook. This song was mental.

6. Fall In Love – D’banj (2008)

Sugar banana, sweet potato and a host of other sweet fruits and vegetables properly describes how lovely and incredible this song is. The tandem of D’banj and Don Jazzy shone bright again on this one,  D’banj with the verses, Don Jazzy with the beat and ad libs. The last 20 seconds when Don Jazzy sounded like he was summoning your great grandparent’s spirits was the best part for me.

5. You bad – Wande Coal feat D’banj (2009)

Drums, drums, piano and more drums (can’t forget the bass on this). The biggest song (sorry Bumper to Bumper) on Wande Coal’s debut is another Don Jazzy masterpiece and as you already know, Wande doesn’t know how to fail or flop and he blessed the beat accordingly.

4. Give It To Me – D’Prince feat D’banj (2010)

Every Don Jazzy beat is unique in it’s way and this one has to be one of the more unique ones. Starting off with a funny keyboard sound, it’s followed by a marching band esque rendition of drums before morphing into an absolute dance themed beat. This song lit up clubs back then in late 2010 when it dropped. Again, it featured D’banj who didn’t disappoint ( I’m D’banj!!!). Don Jazzy with another incantation type adlib on this. D’prince couldn’t do any wrong with Don Jazzy behind him……pause.

3. Critical. – Ikechukwu feat D’banj (2009)

A personal favorite really, this was the song that was supposed to catapult Ikechukwu into permanent stardom. Starting off with some of the sickest drums and (flute/piano/trumpet, not sure which one so add it) accompanied by another Don Jazzy ad lib, it turned into the biggest song of Ikechukwu’s career. D’banj featuring on it was the icing on the cake.

2. Gbona feli feli – D’banj (2008)

Losing top spot to anyone or anything is never easy but Gbona Feli Feli will gladly take a back seat and enjoy the #2 spot. The biggest club banger had people purring over the skills of Don Jazzy and how he made this the hottest beat that year. So good was the production that M.I had to flip the beat a little and rap over it on his Illegal Music 1 mixtape.

1. Oliver Twist – D’banj (2012)

Is there anything here that needs to be said that you don’t already know? Easily the biggest song Don Jazzy’s ever produced. The song garnered international acclaim with all types of people and races and even animals all agreeing to how great the song was. The song planted both him and D’banj firmly on the international stage and even drew the attention of Kanye West and Jay-Z. It doesn’t get any bigger than that.
